COMPOSITION
CARBAPEN-M 1 g Injection
Each Vial Contains:
Meropenem Trihydrate IP eq. to Anhydrous Meropenem 1 g
Sodium Carbonate Anhydrous IP eq. to Sodium 90.2 mg
 
CARBAPEN-M 500 mg Injection
Each Vial Contains:
Meropenem Trihydrate IP eq. to Anhydrous Meropenem 500 mg
Sodium Carbonate Anhydrous IP eq. to Sodium 45.1 mg
 
INDICATIONS
  • Intra-abdominal infections like complicated appendicitis and peritonitis
  • Complicated skin and skin structure infections
  • Bacterial meningitis
  • Nosocomial Pneumonia
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
CARBAPEN-M should be inspected visually for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration

Intravenous: Adults: 0.5-1 gm CARBAPEN-M IV slowly over 3-5 minutes approximately every 8 hours. CARBAPEN-M can be given by IV infusion over approximately 15-30 minutes.

Children (>3 mths): 10, 20 or 40 mg CARBAPEN-M per kg body-weight as IV infusion every 8 hours depending on the site and severity of infection. Maximum dose should not exceed 2 g every 8 hours.

Pediatric patients weighing 50 kg or more should be advocated 0.5, 1 and 2 g dose 8 hourly as IV bolus (5-20 ml over 3-5 minutes) or IV infusion (over 15-30 minutes).
