COMPOSITION
EXTACEF - 50 DT
Each Dispersible Tablet Contains:
Cefixime IP as Trihydrate Equivalent to Anhydrous Cefixime 50 mg
 
EXTACEF - 100 DT
Each Dispersible Tablet Contains:
Cefixime IP as Trihydrate Equivalent to Anhydrous Cefixime 100 mg
 
EXTACEF - 200 DT
Each Dispersible Tablet Contains:
Cefixime IP as Trihydrate Equivalent to Anhydrous Cefixime 200 mg
 
INDICATIONS
Extacef is indicated for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, typhoid fever, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, switch over therapy following parentral third generation cephalosporins therapy when caused by susceptible microorganisms.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
The usual course of treatment is seven days: this may be continued for up to 14 days, if required.

Oral: Adults and children over 10 years: The usual recommended adult dose is 200 to 400 mg daily, depending on the severity of infection, given either as a single dose or two divided doses.

Use In children: Usual recommended dose for children is 8 mg/kg/day administered as a single dose or in two divided doses. The safety and efficacy of cefixime in children less than six months has not been established.
