COMPOSITION
CEDONEX 1.5 g Injection
Each Vial Contains:
Sterile cefoperazone sodium IP equivalent to Cefoperazone 1 g
Sterile sulbactam sodium USP equivalent to Sulbactam 0.5 g
 
INDICATIONS
CEDONEX Injection is indicated for the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible pathogens:

  • Peritonitis and other Intra-abdominal Infections
  • Lower Respiratory Tract Infections including ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)
  • Bacterial Septicemia
  • Skin and Skin Structures Infections
  • Bone and Joint infections
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease & Endometritis
  • Severe & complicated Urinary Tract Infections
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
CEDONEX Injection can be administered by IM or IV injection (bolus or infusion) after reconstitution with sterile water for injection.

Adults -

Usual Recommended Dosage:

CEDONEX 1.5 g Injection: 3-6 g (2-4 vials) daily in 2 divided doses (containing 2-4 g of cefoperazone with 1-2 g of sulbactam).

In Severe Infections:
CEDONEX 1.5 g Injection:
up to 12 g (8 vials) daily in 2, 3, or 4 divided doses (containing cefoperazone 8 g with sulbactam 4 g).The recommended maximum daily dose of cefoperazone is 12 g in 2, 3, or 4 divided doses. The total daily dose of sulbactam should not exceed 4 g.
In cases where dose of cefoperazone needed is above 8 g, an additional cefoperazone should be administered separately. Or, as prescribed by the physician.

Pediatrics:
Usual Recommended dosage:
20-40 mg/kg/day of cefoperazone in 2 divided doses.
In severe infections: Dosage may be increased up to 160 mg/kg/day of cefoperazone in 2, 3, or 4 divided doses.
The maximum recommended daily dosage of cefoperazone is up to 200 mg/kg/day in 2, 3, or 4 divided doses. The maximum daily dose of sulbactam should not exceed 80 mg/kg/day.
